FLI CAP Technology has successfully delivered an innovative aeration upgrade in partnership with Landia, helping a leading food manufacturer avoid a costly effluent tank replacement while restoring treatment performance and reducing energy consumption.

The project centred around an ageing 1,250m³ effluent tank that was experiencing significant operational challenges due to an inefficient aeration system. Faced with the prospect of a major capital investment to replace the asset, the client required a practical solution that would extend the operational life of the existing tank while maintaining compliance and supporting future business planning.

The project presented several unique engineering challenges. The tank had to remain operational throughout the installation due to the absence of standby capacity, while overhead 11kV power lines prevented the use of cranes and traditional lifting methods.

Following a detailed technical review, FLI CAP Technology worked closely with Landia to develop a bespoke aeration solution using Landia AirJet technology. The installation was carefully engineered to be completed on a live tank, ensuring continuous operation throughout the works.

The completed upgrade has delivered significant benefits, including:

• Reduced energy consumption compared with the previous aeration system
• Improved treatment performance and compliance
• Elimination of costly tanker movements caused by inadequately treated effluent
• Increased operational reliability and resilience
