Delivering a Complete Wastewater Treatment Plant for Greencore Food to Go

FLI CAP Technology successfully delivered a complete turnkey industrial effluent treatment plant for Greencore Food to Go’s manufacturing facility in Bow, East London.

Following the successful delivery of two previous projects within the Greencore Food to Go business, FLI CAP Technology was awarded a third contract to design, construct and commission a new effluent treatment plant to ensure continued compliance with Thames Water discharge consent conditions while supporting ongoing production.

Project Scope

Delivered under a turnkey contract, FLI CAP Technology was responsible for:

• Detailed engineering design
• Civil engineering works
• Equipment supply
• Mechanical and electrical installation
• Commissioning

The project centred around replacing a temporary treatment system that was no longer capable of meeting discharge consent requirements. Due to limited space at the front of the site, FLI CAP Technology developed an innovative solution that incorporated a dedicated screening station adjacent to the raw effluent collection sump before transferring screened effluent over 300 metres to a purpose-built treatment facility at the rear of the site.

Treatment Process

The new plant includes:

• Raw effluent screening station
• Over 300 metres of stainless steel transfer pipework
• 80m³ aerated balance tank within a containment bund
• 15m³/hour Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) system
• Chemical storage, preparation and dosing facilities
• Fully automated PLC control system with alarm monitoring linked to the main factory

Designed for minimal operator intervention, the system provides reliable primary treatment while ensuring consistent compliance with environmental discharge requirements.

Successful Delivery

Despite being delivered during the COVID-19 pandemic, the project was completed safely, on programme and within budget.

The completed installation provides Greencore with a robust, fully automated wastewater treatment solution that supports long-term operational reliability and environmental compliance.
