FLI CAP Technology Role:
FLI CAP Technology delivered a turnkey effluent treatment solution for Samworth Brothers’ Ashton Green bakery in Leicester, supporting a major site expansion to increase production capacity.
The solution was delivered using a phased approach, allowing future integration of DAF clarification and sludge handling to further reduce discharge costs.
Phase one included effluent screening, balancing and pH correction, with provision for a future DAF clarification system and sludge storage to further enhance treatment performance and reduce discharge costs.
The installed system is capable of processing up to 650 m³/day of factory effluent and includes:
- Mechanical rotary drum screening operating at up to 80 m³/hr
- Self-contained balance tank
- Automated pH correction via chemical dosing
- PLC control system with remote access
- Effluent monitoring for compliance
The balance tank incorporates venturi aeration to ensure homogenisation and prevent septicity, stabilising flows prior to treatment. Designed with secondary containment in line with CIRIA C736 guidance, the system ensures reliable compliance while supporting operational growth — all delivered on programme, on budget and to performance targets.
FLI CAP Technology delivered the full project scope, including design, equipment supply, mechanical and electrical installation, and commissioning.
The plant was completed safely, on schedule and within budget, achieving all agreed performance targets and providing a scalable solution for future site growth.
